- Semi-permanent color does not lift your natural shade. It coats the outside of the hair and washes out gradually over 6 to 12 shampoos. This is a good option if you want to try a new color without making a long-term change.
- Demi-permanent color uses a low-level developer to slightly lift and deposit color just beneath the surface of the hair. It lasts longer than semi-permanent, usually around 12 to 26 washes, and works well for blending grays or refreshing faded color.
- Permanent color alters the hair structure and stays in place until it grows out. It can lighten hair up to four levels and offers full gray coverage. Lifting beyond that isn't recommended, as it can lead to damage.
